Lothians activists on the streets again

March 13, 2010

Letter template
West Lothian Super Activist Mark McGarry and Central Scotland Organiser Mike Coyle took to the streets today in a second day of high visibility leafleting in the Lothian’s. The team put out 250+ leaflets in an hour.
IMAG2212
Mike told the news team ” We leafleted the small town of Whitburn which has shown great support in the past. We gave a keen young chap an info pack plus one elderly lady told us she was so sick and tired with politics and doesn’t vote anymore but listened as we explained what we stood for before taking a leaflet and one for her neighbour”

The team then retired for one of Mikes dubious bacon sandwiches (which will in effect incapacitate them for a few days)

On a special note, Mike adds ” Again Mark must be commended. As mentioned before this young lad cares full time for his mother but attends every meeting and event not just in the Lothians but on occasion in Glasgow. Both myself and Lothian’s Organiser Davie Orr wish to congratulate Mark on his successfull Gold membership application that was processed today following the lift on the membership ban!”

The Lothian team is going from strength to strength with the next meeting planned for this coming Thursday.

For further details or to join the team, please contact David Orr or Mike Coyle on the Sub Regional contacts page.

Lothians report

March 9, 2010

BNP9
Lothians sub-regional organiser David Orr was more than happy with his last meeting which was called to discuss future activities, including starting this Thursday to leaflet Livingston in the run up to the election.

One member along with his partner traveled from Fife to attend the meeting, also in attendance were two people waiting to join as soon as the ban is lifted.

Mr Orr told the news team “I would like to mention Mark McGarry, he is 19 years old and went out by himself last week posted 60 ‘Voice of Freedoms’ and over a 100 leaflets. Mark has also arranged for a local pakistani shopkeeper to sell our ‘Voice of Freedom’, amazing!! Mark cares for his mum full-time, he is a shy chap and refuses any recognition but is a great activist, I look forward to hearing what he has been up to at the next meeting”.

Lothians BNP will be meeting again on Thursday 18th contact David Orr or Mike Coyle for details

BNP Scotland are sad to announce the loss of a great friend and fellow member of the BNP Brian Reilly.

Brian was one of the best activists for Glasgow bnp over the years, everyone who helped in activism new big Bri.
Brian, who was Glasgow Organiser, helped run the meetings plus activism and constantly helping fellow members, all this happened while Brian was ill, it just tells you the kind of man he was.

He leafleted in all weathers and in all areas, one of Brians wishes was to leaflet his beloved Glasgow Celtic, I am sure one day we will and it will be done in his memory.

Brian will be missed by his friends and all that knew him, this kind of friendship and loyalty will never be forgotten.

Glasgow welcomes Nick Griffin and Richard Barnbrook

November 9, 2009

IMG_0129

It’s a lovely sunny but chilly morning on Monday 9th November 2009 and BNP Scotland is delighted to welcome to the streets of Glasgow North East, Nick Griffin MEP and Richard Barnbrook GLA (Member of the Greater London Assembly) for a day’s campaigning in the constituency.

We started in Springburn Shopping Centre just after 11am where we spent a full hour in the presence of the national media.

Richard Barnbrook took up the megaphone and regaled shoppers with our message while BNP activists leafleted everyone coming and going. Meanwhile Nick spoke to an eager media as the Truth Truck drove all around the area with its positive message blaring from the speakers.

Interestingly, there was no sign of the other parties at all, as Nick went walkabout, meeting and greeting the locals.

It was then onto Saracen Street with the media keen to keep up.

Richard walked ahead of our entourage, right down one side of Saracen Street with his message sounding out from his megaphone. It was clear to us all in BNP Scotland that Richard is a real professional and judging from his confidence and skill, he has done this many times before! In fact, Richard told us that Glasgow North East reminded him of Barking and Dagenham 3 years ago.

Nick followed and greeted passers-by, shaking their hands, stopping to talk to them and giving them our leaflet. On the other side of the street, our party activists were handing out leaflets as the Truth Truck drove up and down the street.

On one side of the leaflets was the message “SNP – The Mass Immigration Party” and on the other “Fair Play for Glasgow – Stop Asylum Dumping Now!” The leaflet was well-received by everyone.

The leaflet continued: “The SNP are showing their real unpatriotic colours. They want to see even more immigration to Scotland and don’t care that it’s unfair on our own jobless, homeless and taxpayers. An SNP vote is a vote to import even more unemployment, crime and poverty into Glasgow.”

The Truth Truck is very tall and visible. As a passerby commented, “You can see it for miles!”

After spending time in Saracen Street everyone set off for Duke Street. Here we did the same thing. Our entourage walked down one side of the road, led by Richard with Nick and the media and our leafleters in tow, and then we walked down the other side, while the Truth Truck drove up and down and round about the entire area.

Nick was on top form and was as happy to be with us as we were to see him. He is a very friendly politician and loved to shake hands with the people who recognised him – which was everyone.

Everyone was friendly. The only sour note was from an SNP activist who stumbled into our entourage. He called one of our leafleters a “fascist”, only to be brought up short by our activist who rebuked him, “You Sir, have not been brought up properly!”

The frantic SNPer also received a particularly unwanted reminder of his own party’s history from our activist: “Calling us ‘fascist’ is rich coming from a member of a party whose former leader, Arthur Donaldson, was a Nazi sympathiser during WW2 and wanted to set up a Vichy-style regime in Scotland!” he was told. The SNPer stormed off in a huff – we guess the truth hurts!

The facts about Donaldson were explained in a 2005 Sunday Times article which stated:
“Arthur Donaldson, the former SNP leader, planned to set up a Vichy-style regime in Scotland in the event of a Nazi invasion, according to a newly released MI5 file. Donaldson intended to infiltrate the party with Nazi sympathisers, who would undermine the British war effort by carrying out acts of sabotage and spreading misinformation. Following a widely anticipated invasion by Hitler’s forces, the Nationalist leader hoped to establish himself as a ‘Scottish quisling’ in charge of a puppet government. Donaldson, who led the party from 1960 to 1969, was arrested in 1941 and was held for five weeks at Barlinnie.”
(Peter Day, “SNP boss planned Nazi Scotland”, The Sunday Times, 6 November 2005).

Let our candidate Charlie Baillie have the final word after today’s wonderful activity. As he told us:

“This was a great day’s activism. Thanks to Nick Griffin MEP and Richard Barnbrook MLA for coming up to help. We really appreciate that. Nick got a great response from the voters and Richard is an extremely impressive politician who really helped to turn the visit into an event! It was especially appropriate that Nick and Richard were here on the same day that Alan Johnson, Home Secretary, was also in the constituency. This is a man who says in today’s papers that he wants ‘a debate’ on immigration. Well, talking is nice, but action is what is needed now! The fact is, Alan Johnson can debate immigration until the cows come home, but he has no intention of ever actually doing anything about it! The voters can see through him. That’s one of the reasons why voters in Glasgow North East are supporting the British National Party – the only party that is not just talking about it, but will actually do something to stop mass immigration.”

Voting is this Thursday 12th November between 7am-10pm. See the “Point of Light” manifesto on which Charlie Baillie and the BNP are standing here:

Latest report from Glasgow

November 7, 2009

Charlie canvassing - Duke St - Dennistoun 5Nov09

Glasgow Correspondent – Carrick Crawford

In the morning Charlie Baillie and his team visited Royston. We managed to leaflet most of the area including the high rise flats. Royston was previously known as Garngad and is still known as such by residents with a familial link to the area. It is notable for its large population of Irish Catholic descent, and a high level of deprivation. The British National Party is proud to be non-sectarian and is making huge efforts to be seen as such but unfortunately the sight of the Union Flag as part of our leaflet’s BNP logo was enough to attract unsavoury attention from some of the local unemployed youth. Nevertheless, we succeeded in bringing our message to their area and letting them know we are willing to represent their community.

We had a great response in Dennistoun where we spent the whole afternoon. Although predominantly tenemental, the Victorian villas and terraces to the west (towards the city centre) established the area as a respectable working class area for families. Its proximity to the city centre and to Strathclyde and Caledonian universities, has contributed to its gentrification in recent years; many of its residents are now students and young professionals.

We split into three smaller teams and after a hard working leafleting session around both the flats and villas, we stopped for a well deserved tea break in Coia’s Café in Duke Street. This café has long established roots in the area since 1928 and is fondly remembered by Charlie, when, as a boy, he was taken there every now and then for a treat by his parents.

Whilst relaxing, we were spotted by a film crew and reporter from Channel 4 who asked to film us and also granted Charlie a short interview. We also noticed the SNP candidate, David Kerr, was in the area, driving around in his SNP coloured Mini!

After refreshments, we returned to the streets, talking to people and giving out leaflets near Golfhill School before turning towards Alexandra Parade shopping area, where we gave out the remainder, both inside local shops and outside. Charlie greeted many residents who shook his hand and wished us well. At the end of the day, Charlie reported our day’s efforts back to Nick Griffin, who we are hoping can make the effort to return to Glasgow for the final week of our campaign.

I’d like to thank everyone who helped out today and remind everyone again to try their best to spare a day to come out and help Charlie in our final week of action. We are hoping for a real breakthrough for the party in Scotland in this high profile by-election, as we are seen now as a credible alternative to both the SNP and the locally despised Labour.

Glasgow By-election news

October 19, 2009

IMG_1816Glasgow BNP took to the streets of Springburn on Saturday with an impressive 14 activists taking part. A number of these people had never been on the street before and it is to the credit of Charlie Baillie, our energetic and dynamic organiser and candidate, that these volunteers were encouraged to take part in what may prove to be an historic campaign; certainly one that will prove to be the highlight of the year in Scotland.

A stall was set up complete with BNP flag in the heart of Milton which is a large council ward within the constituency. Three teams were organised to leaflet houses in the area and one team remained to man the stall. The exceptional good weather was a godsend and morale amongst the activists was very high. This meant that the area was covered quickly and after some two hours we moved to Saracen Street in the Possil Park area. The stall was set up at a busy junction and while a number of activists remained at the stall another group went walkabout distributing leaflets and the VoF to members of the public. Charlie Baillie addressed the passers-by with the megaphone and this drew a great deal of attention to us.

Sunday was a busy day for the team as well. A number of activists leafleted in the constituency on a door to door basis. Hard graft but worth the effort.

The Truth Truck will be making an appearance any day from now on and we expect to generate considerable interest in this by-election with our high-profile activities.

West Lothian activity report

October 10, 2009

BNPSCOTWLG
Saturday saw a day of action in West Lothian, local organiser Mike Coyle reports.

Activists started their day in Bathgate town centre where hundreds of leaflets and magazines were handed out in less than an hour. The team spent a great deal of time talking to many supporters even having a cup of tea bought for them!
Mike told the news team, “This was the first time the new group took to the streets in West Lothian and the support was overwhelming. Many people not only took our leaflets but stopped to talk and express their views and gratitude to seeing us. The only bother we had was one untidy Marxist student who thought it was ok to roar the usual profanities in front of young children. It was actually a member of public that sent him swiftly on his way”.

Following the success in Bathgate the activists moved to Livingston to leaflet outside the shopping centre where more leaflets were handed out before Mikes hunger got the better of him. After a brief fast food stop the teamcalled it a day. Mike finished by saying, “I was taken aback by the support shown and the success of our first day leafleting and that was just a small team. As the group grows I firmly believe the party could establish itself in West Lothian. One chap that came out with me even took a bundle of leaflets away with him to hand out round his home town….and he is not even a member…..yet!”

West Lothian is going from strength to strength with their next open meeting set for 22nd October. For details contact Mike 07815597675 or coyle409@btinternet.com.

First meeting for Lothians

September 25, 2009

Picture 003Thursday night saw a successful and productive first meeting for Lothian’s BNP.
The meeting was held at a venue in West Lothian with special guests Charlie Baillie, Glasgow BNP and Walter Hamilton, Lanarkshire BNP. Plus, there were a number of potential new members, as well as two Latvian Nationalists who support our cause; one of whom has spent two years in a Soviet prison due to his own Nationalist beliefs.
The meeting began with organiser Mike Coyle giving an introduction about the new group (with terrible jokes throughout) followed by a discussion of the roles that the group is aiming to fill and targets they hope to achieve.
The group had a positive and engaging discussion about recruitment and fund raising within the Lothian area, with many invaluable contributions from all, followed by a distribution of information of coming events; including a remembrance service for the fallen and a briefing on the 2010 elections. The first task agreed and actions started is that of leaflet distributions and Voice of Freedom sales within West Lothian.

Mr. Baillie then gave an inspirational talk about the upcoming Glasgow by-election, briefing the group on his goals and strategies.
Lothian’s BNP has agreed to contribute as much man-power as possible. It was also announced, with members consent, that Lothian’s BNP will donate 25% of all funds raised to the Glasgow campaign.

Centre stage then went to Mr. Hamilton, who gave invaluable and practical advice on a number of topics, including recruitment, fund raising, leafleting and many other aspects vital to a new group. Mr. Hamilton also contested the trophy for most terrible jokes, of which Mike was happy to concede.

Many thanks to those who attended and also to those who have been in touch, who could not attend.
Special thanks to Mr. Baillie and Mr. Hamilton for their contributions.

SNP At It Again!

June 19, 2009

shrek-alex-salmond1
In a move to separate Scotland from the Union, the SNP have been delivering a leaflet in Falkirk with the Queen AIRBRUSHED OUT of the photo!

The picture is of Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson and a bunch of other SNP councillors in Falkirk’s Council Chamber.

But instead of the portraits of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh – which have hung in the council chamber since 1964 – Robert Burns and William Wallace’s portraits have popped up in their place!

Nothing surprising here to people who know that the SNP are intent on ending the Union that has put the great in Great Britain.

Whilst on the subject of the SNP, remember the SNP’s pledge that EVERY child could go swimming for FREE?

The Sports Minister, Shona Robison, said it would be up to individual councils to decide whether swimming should be free.

Another broken pledge? Tut, tut!

There are only two councils who have provided year round free swimming to under 16’s – Inverclyde and Glasgow.

The SNP said that free swimming remained “an ambition”.

An ambition? So that would be putting it in the next election manifesto to sucker the voters into believing that the SNP would actually do something for the Scottish people eh?

The people of Scotland need to wake up to these fake Nationalists and realise that they don’t really care about the people of this country. The SNP are only interested in using past history to stir up patriotism and promote their agenda.

Their agenda?

To shear Scotland off from the rest of Britain

To become a slave nation to the EU

Absolute power over the people and resources

What they should be doing is representing the views of the people who voted for them. But then again, their past record of election promises shows that they are willing to say anything to keep power!
