Desperate Salmond

February 26, 2010

ass
The wheels are coming off the little dictators wagon it seems. A recent poll shows the SNP on their lowest support since Alex Salmond took over the party!

This may explained the SNP’s drive to court the Muslim vote in Glasgow and why they are happy to support a candidate who has praised the ‘Bin Laden of the internet’ radical cleric Anwar al-Awiaki

Osama Saeed is already embroiled in a cash for access row after bidding for a lunch with the First Minister, there are also concerns about his tax-payer-funded £40,000 salary as head of the controversial Scottish-Islamic Foundation which has collected more than £400,000 of tax-payers money from the Executive despite failing to organise a series of promised cultural festivals.

The SNP have used parliamentary facilities to raise funds for Saeed’s campaign and have arranged for his salary at the Scottish-Islamic Foundation to be paid out of public funds. Politicians have called for an enquiry into claims Mr Saeed is using tax-payers money to promote his Westminster bid.

The SNP a one issue one term party who are getting more desperate by the day.

Courting the Muslim vote?

February 11, 2010

imagesCAKSQK6D

Scotland’s deputy first minister has written a letter of support for a man who could be jailed over benefit fraud.
Nicola Sturgeon asked the court to consider “alternatives to a custodial sentence” in the case of Abdul Rauf.
The 60-year-old, who is a constituent of Ms Sturgeon, defrauded £80,000 from the Department of Work and Pensions.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard how Rauf admitted failing to declare a property in Newington, Edinburgh, worth £200,000 on his application for income support.
He subsequently received £650 a month in rent while he claimed the benefits between 2001 and 2006.
At the same time he was living in a £400,000 house in Glasgow’s Maxwell Park area. In 1996, Rauf was given a four-year sentence for stealing nearly £60,000 in pension and benefit payments when he was a sub-post master at Tollcross in Edinburgh. Last week Ms Sturgeon along with her boss Salmond were selling access to raise funds for the SNP to a Mr Amin Hussain and a Mr Khalid Javid
Now she is prepared to give a character reference for Mr Abdul Rauf a convicted fraudster. Just what else are the SNP willing to do to secure the Muslim vote?

The SNP, criminals party of choice!

January 19, 2010

as

So now we know the sort of people that make up Alex Salmond’s new Scots.

Salmond has lobbied the Home Office to allow an illegal immigrant criminal tax dodger to stay in Scotland. Just the sort of immigrant we need so badly to keep our country going according to Salmond.

Zheng Bin should have left the UK ten years ago, last week he was arrested by police on an outstanding warrant in connection with the supply of drugs.
This particular enricher of British society had been working secretly in the kitchen of the Shining Pearl restaurant in Peterhead, just across the road from Homer Salmond’s office doh!

I wonder how much tax he has paid in to the system. Oh that’s right he was working in secret so that will be none then, still we all know how fond Homer is of his take a ways!

If anyone was in doubt of the SNP’s soft approach to crime then here is cast iron proof, the First Minister lobbying on behalf of an illegal immigrant wanted on drugs charges, what a major embarrassment for the man who would be king.

SNP, one issue one term party

December 16, 2009

imagesCA1L7SM0We are now feeling the result of having a one issue executive at Holyrood with little experience of government. The SNP populist giveaway budgets now mean millions of pounds which could have been available for essential services have been frittered away.
The freezing of council tax alone will cost in excess of £200million next year. If the council tax had been allowed to rise by 3% a year it would of cost on average 75p per week. This money could have been used to maintain education and social services that councils are now cutting.
Abolishing prescription charges and tolls on bridges can hardly be justified at the expense of basic health, education and social services.
The latest SNP proposal to spend millions on a unwanted referendum shows how out of touch Mr Salmond has become, as does the SNP led Aberdeen councils proposal to close three primary schools to save £147,000 per year while in the next breath considering prescribing heroin to the city’s addicts.
The estimated cost of this is approx £15,000 per year per addict. With an estimated addict population of 3,000 in Aberdeen this idiocy would cost approx £4.5million per year.
A lack of common sense and foresight by the ‘independence at any cost’ SNP will see the one issue party become a one term party in 2011 as the people wake up to the reality of these false nationalists.

Expense band wagon

December 11, 2009

imagesdddddIt hasn’t taken long for SNP MSP Jamie Hepburn to get on the expense band wagon it would seem.
Hepburn, MSP for Central Scotland, has claimed more than £7,500 for STAMPS.
This amount would have paid for 19,000 first class or 25,000 second class stamps.

Hepburn said “I don’t think its possible to phone 2000 constituents on issues affecting them”!

During the same period Tory Margaret Mitchell who covers the same Central Scotland area billed taxpayers for a tiny £1.08, maybe she could advise Hepburn on how to use email.

How to gerrymander the referendum

November 30, 2009

as
So today saw the launch of the SNP’s white paper on an independence referendum.
What a complete waste of time, energy and tax payers money this is as it does not even ask the simple question, independence Yes or No.

The reason being because even the blinkered false nationalist party already knows the answer.

Can they seriously argue with more than three decades of broadly similar poll results or hard votes? A hard core of about 20% of Scots wish to go it alone while in a good month for the SNP a little over 40% favour separation. But in the SNP’s entire 75 year history the party has never won more than 33% of the poll in any kind of national election.

Recent polls show that a record 57% of voters resolve to vote no with only 29% in favour of separation which is why the white paper has been designed to gerrymander the referendum by splitting the unionist vote.

By the SNP’s own admission this will cost 9-11 million, the outcome of which is already known to be against independence, what a criminal waste of money when so many are suffering in the midst of a recession.

With their manifesto pledges in tatters due to as they say lack of funds can anyone take this obsession seriously? The people of Scotland deserve better governance than this during an economic crisis, the people must soundly reject the false nationalists at the General Election and send them a clear message at the ballot box, time to go home and think again Alex!

MSP’s want to change electoral system

November 21, 2009

images66Something that should concern all the smaller political parties in Scotland has been reported in the press, in a wholly fascistic move some MSP’s have suggested the electoral system for Holyrood should be changed to stop the BNP winning a seat on the top up list.
The top up system was introduced to compensate parties that polled perhaps 20% of votes in constituencies but failed to win first past the post seats. This is democracy in action, which both the Greens and the far left have benefited from in the past. However now that the BNP are in reach of winning a seat the main parties want to change it!
The desperation of these anti democratic forces is staggering, people it would seem can vote for who they like as long as it suits the Lab/SNP/Con tri-party, this can not be tolerated and must be challenged.
The BNP is a completely legal registered political party that has won a mandate from one million people, almost 30,000 here in Scotland voted BNP in the Euros, we beat the Lib-Dems, Greens and all the far left parties in Glasgow recently, we have the absolute right to represent these people, as they have the absolute right to vote for us, do not let them take away this freedom, contact your elected representatives and express your disgust with the Holyrood fascists.

Glasgow welcomes Nick Griffin and Richard Barnbrook

November 9, 2009

IMG_0129

It’s a lovely sunny but chilly morning on Monday 9th November 2009 and BNP Scotland is delighted to welcome to the streets of Glasgow North East, Nick Griffin MEP and Richard Barnbrook GLA (Member of the Greater London Assembly) for a day’s campaigning in the constituency.

We started in Springburn Shopping Centre just after 11am where we spent a full hour in the presence of the national media.

Richard Barnbrook took up the megaphone and regaled shoppers with our message while BNP activists leafleted everyone coming and going. Meanwhile Nick spoke to an eager media as the Truth Truck drove all around the area with its positive message blaring from the speakers.

Interestingly, there was no sign of the other parties at all, as Nick went walkabout, meeting and greeting the locals.

It was then onto Saracen Street with the media keen to keep up.

Richard walked ahead of our entourage, right down one side of Saracen Street with his message sounding out from his megaphone. It was clear to us all in BNP Scotland that Richard is a real professional and judging from his confidence and skill, he has done this many times before! In fact, Richard told us that Glasgow North East reminded him of Barking and Dagenham 3 years ago.

Nick followed and greeted passers-by, shaking their hands, stopping to talk to them and giving them our leaflet. On the other side of the street, our party activists were handing out leaflets as the Truth Truck drove up and down the street.

On one side of the leaflets was the message “SNP – The Mass Immigration Party” and on the other “Fair Play for Glasgow – Stop Asylum Dumping Now!” The leaflet was well-received by everyone.

The leaflet continued: “The SNP are showing their real unpatriotic colours. They want to see even more immigration to Scotland and don’t care that it’s unfair on our own jobless, homeless and taxpayers. An SNP vote is a vote to import even more unemployment, crime and poverty into Glasgow.”

The Truth Truck is very tall and visible. As a passerby commented, “You can see it for miles!”

After spending time in Saracen Street everyone set off for Duke Street. Here we did the same thing. Our entourage walked down one side of the road, led by Richard with Nick and the media and our leafleters in tow, and then we walked down the other side, while the Truth Truck drove up and down and round about the entire area.

Nick was on top form and was as happy to be with us as we were to see him. He is a very friendly politician and loved to shake hands with the people who recognised him – which was everyone.

Everyone was friendly. The only sour note was from an SNP activist who stumbled into our entourage. He called one of our leafleters a “fascist”, only to be brought up short by our activist who rebuked him, “You Sir, have not been brought up properly!”

The frantic SNPer also received a particularly unwanted reminder of his own party’s history from our activist: “Calling us ‘fascist’ is rich coming from a member of a party whose former leader, Arthur Donaldson, was a Nazi sympathiser during WW2 and wanted to set up a Vichy-style regime in Scotland!” he was told. The SNPer stormed off in a huff – we guess the truth hurts!

The facts about Donaldson were explained in a 2005 Sunday Times article which stated:
“Arthur Donaldson, the former SNP leader, planned to set up a Vichy-style regime in Scotland in the event of a Nazi invasion, according to a newly released MI5 file. Donaldson intended to infiltrate the party with Nazi sympathisers, who would undermine the British war effort by carrying out acts of sabotage and spreading misinformation. Following a widely anticipated invasion by Hitler’s forces, the Nationalist leader hoped to establish himself as a ‘Scottish quisling’ in charge of a puppet government. Donaldson, who led the party from 1960 to 1969, was arrested in 1941 and was held for five weeks at Barlinnie.”
(Peter Day, “SNP boss planned Nazi Scotland”, The Sunday Times, 6 November 2005).

Let our candidate Charlie Baillie have the final word after today’s wonderful activity. As he told us:

“This was a great day’s activism. Thanks to Nick Griffin MEP and Richard Barnbrook MLA for coming up to help. We really appreciate that. Nick got a great response from the voters and Richard is an extremely impressive politician who really helped to turn the visit into an event! It was especially appropriate that Nick and Richard were here on the same day that Alan Johnson, Home Secretary, was also in the constituency. This is a man who says in today’s papers that he wants ‘a debate’ on immigration. Well, talking is nice, but action is what is needed now! The fact is, Alan Johnson can debate immigration until the cows come home, but he has no intention of ever actually doing anything about it! The voters can see through him. That’s one of the reasons why voters in Glasgow North East are supporting the British National Party – the only party that is not just talking about it, but will actually do something to stop mass immigration.”

Voting is this Thursday 12th November between 7am-10pm. See the “Point of Light” manifesto on which Charlie Baillie and the BNP are standing here:

Latest report from Glasgow

November 7, 2009

Charlie canvassing - Duke St - Dennistoun 5Nov09

Glasgow Correspondent – Carrick Crawford

In the morning Charlie Baillie and his team visited Royston. We managed to leaflet most of the area including the high rise flats. Royston was previously known as Garngad and is still known as such by residents with a familial link to the area. It is notable for its large population of Irish Catholic descent, and a high level of deprivation. The British National Party is proud to be non-sectarian and is making huge efforts to be seen as such but unfortunately the sight of the Union Flag as part of our leaflet’s BNP logo was enough to attract unsavoury attention from some of the local unemployed youth. Nevertheless, we succeeded in bringing our message to their area and letting them know we are willing to represent their community.

We had a great response in Dennistoun where we spent the whole afternoon. Although predominantly tenemental, the Victorian villas and terraces to the west (towards the city centre) established the area as a respectable working class area for families. Its proximity to the city centre and to Strathclyde and Caledonian universities, has contributed to its gentrification in recent years; many of its residents are now students and young professionals.

We split into three smaller teams and after a hard working leafleting session around both the flats and villas, we stopped for a well deserved tea break in Coia’s Café in Duke Street. This café has long established roots in the area since 1928 and is fondly remembered by Charlie, when, as a boy, he was taken there every now and then for a treat by his parents.

Whilst relaxing, we were spotted by a film crew and reporter from Channel 4 who asked to film us and also granted Charlie a short interview. We also noticed the SNP candidate, David Kerr, was in the area, driving around in his SNP coloured Mini!

After refreshments, we returned to the streets, talking to people and giving out leaflets near Golfhill School before turning towards Alexandra Parade shopping area, where we gave out the remainder, both inside local shops and outside. Charlie greeted many residents who shook his hand and wished us well. At the end of the day, Charlie reported our day’s efforts back to Nick Griffin, who we are hoping can make the effort to return to Glasgow for the final week of our campaign.

I’d like to thank everyone who helped out today and remind everyone again to try their best to spare a day to come out and help Charlie in our final week of action. We are hoping for a real breakthrough for the party in Scotland in this high profile by-election, as we are seen now as a credible alternative to both the SNP and the locally despised Labour.

Liars and fools…

An African woman who lived in Glasgow while seeking refugee status has been jailed for 18 months after admitting lying about her background.
Fatou Gaye, 38, and her son Arouna, four, were removed from their home in Sighthill during a dawn raid in May.
Only after her deportation to Ivory Coast did she admit that she actually came from Senegal.
Luton Crown Court was told she had duped sympathetic politicians and cost the taxpayer more than £100,000.

The removal of Gaye and her son gained widespread publicity. Their case was raised by Glasgow SNP MP John Mason in the House of Commons and by MSP Christina McKelvie who wrote to the Home Secretary. Both believed she came from Ivory Coast.
Prosecutor Claudette Elliott said Gaye was given cash, food tokens and accommodation and had cost taxpayers more than £100,000 by taking out legally-aided cases in an attempt to stay.
Mrs Elliott said: “The defendant embarked on a web of deceit which involved members of parliament, which went on for some years – from February 2005 to July 2009.
“The crown say she took advantage of benefits by seeking refugee status. She made numerous applications, based on deceit.”
Unknown to the authorities dealing with her case, Gaye arrived in the UK on 27 August 2004 on a visitor’s visa from Senegal.
On 1 February 2005 she went to the UK Border Agency offices in Croydon and asked to remain as a refugee saying she was from the Ivory Coast.

Language difficulty

After that she maintained she was from Ivory Coast and had two judicial reviews and five appeals of her case in an attempt to prevent her and her son being deported.
It was only as they were being flown to the Ivory Coast on 28 May that Gaye revealed she did not come from there.
On her arrival, with a UK border official, she could not understand the local language. Staff there said her name indicated she came from Senegal.
Mrs Elliot told the court that Gaye did not know the Independence Day in Ivory Coast and did not know the geography of the country. Gaye was returned to the UK and taken to the Yarlswood Detention Centre near Bedford. On Wednesday she pleaded guilty to two counts of obtaining leave to stay in the country by deception.
Nigel Leskink, defending, said Gaye was uneducated and had initially lied about her nationality having been given advice that she was more likely to be allowed to stay if she said she was from the Ivory Coast. He said the Home Office did not make checks with the Ivory Coast before deporting her there.
Judge Richard Foster, who also recommended her for deportation, said: “This country is rightly proud of its immigration and asylum seeking system. It is well known for its generosity to asylum seekers and refugees. “You have dishonestly and cynically abused the system and brought it into disrepute.
“You told lies to remain here by saying you were from the Ivory Coast. For over four years you pursued that lie and used every possible means to lengthen your stay.”

Independence by any means

September 24, 2009

44With hundreds more Scottish people waking up to face life on the dole every day you would think Alex Salmond had more pressing matters to attend to than his dream of breaking up the Union.
After trying to rig any vote on ‘independence’ he has suggested that children just out of school should have a vote in it, the fact that these children would be the most likely to be swayed by an internet led media campaign appealing to their natural love of their country could not of passed him!
Now he says he is ready to hold a multi-option vote. Instead of a straight yes or no vote, which would be a resounding no as all recent polls suggest, there would be a third question asking voters if they supported more devolved powers to Holyrood.
Of course any such multi-option ballot would split the electorate three ways.
And, under Salmond’s preferred single transferable vote option whereby voters can list their second preference on the ballot a minority vote for independence could win.
After showing to be wanting on the international stage the SNP have retreated abandoning manifesto promises along the way back to the one issue that they exist for, breaking up the union by any means they can.
At least in the coming Glasgow North east by-election the voters have the choice of voting for a true nationalist party, the BNP, together we are stronger.

September 10, 2009

shrek-alex-salmond1SNP Ministers are failing to heed their own advice and let the train take the strain. Half of Alex Salmond’s 16 ministers snubbed rail trips in favour of being ferried around in luxury limos.
Do as we say not as we do is the motto of this executive, and just to rub it in I can reveal that the Environment Minister, the one person you would of expected to, Roseanna Cunningham, is among those that have never used the greener option along with Fiona Hyslop, Nicola Sturgeon, Kenny MacAskill, Keith Brown, Adam Ingram, Alex Neil and Fergus Ewing during 2008/9.
A SNP spokesman insisted “The overall number of car journeys made is less than the previous administration”. And anyway it was the big boys who did it then ran away!

Maybe this excuse for a Government should aim a little higher than just being a bit better than the last lot, because Labour did it does not mean a jot to the cash strapped public who are preached to on a daily basis from these hypocrites ensconced in their ivory towers, travelling with the oinks not good enough for this bunch of expense swindling allowance grabbing false nationalist politicians now a days!

The SNP Fights For “New Scot” To Come Back After She Willingly Left!

July 3, 2009

SNP New Scots
“Do-gooder” SNP MP, Pete Wishart, wants the government to RELAX IMMIGRATION LAWS and follow in America’s footsteps by banning the deportation of widows as there is “no room for discretion”.

His pressure on the government is due to an Indian widow who WILLINGLY left Scotland with her children after her husband died.

In 2004, Mr Navjot Singh and his wife Nidhi arrived in Perth with their first daughter, who was 3 at the time. They had a second daughter here in Scotland.

Current immigration rules state that they would be able to permanently live in the UK next month. However, Mr Singh died earlier this year.

Mrs Singh agreed to return to her homeland of India as if she was to stay here she would be here, in Scotland, illegally.

Mr Wishart is now DEMANDING a change in the immigration laws and has roped in, Leader of the House and Minister for Equality, Harriet Harman.

He said, “The Singh family are in a dreadful situation.

“I am appalled by what has happened and this shows how bureaucratic and rigid the rules are.”

“Mrs Singh has a degree in electronics and communications and has a useful contribution to make to the Perthshire community.

“Her children have started their education here and know no other country.

“Mrs Singh should be allowed to come back to the UK without being subject to this officious nonsense.

“What we need is a system that works on behalf of families placed in this particular and unusual situation.”

“The rigid bureaucracy of the new points based immigration system must be reconsidered immediately to avoid situations as difficult as this one.

“As it currently stands, there is no room for discretion.

“Ending the deportation of widows and widowers is a sensible and reasonable measure which will spare grieving families’ heartache.”

So Mr Wishart, first off you have already done what we expect from the SNP and lied. As Mrs Singh’s eldest daughter DOES know another country – India where she was born and where they are residing now.

Mrs Singh wasn’t even deported she WILLINGLY left to go back to India. The SNP are so desperate to disenfranchise the Scots they would bring someone back to Scotland, who, under the law, shouldn’t even be living here!

As we mentioned in an earlier post, we have a family member who has just had a child and can’t get a council house in Glasgow, even though they have worked since leaving school and both pay their taxes. But I’m sure a home would be available to these people as it is for countless other non-native people.

What other ideas does Mr Wishart have to revamp immigration legislation? What about letting people in who have the same surname as non-Brits who live in Britain? Or what about letting people in who used to live in the same city? Or even people who have the same hairstyle? Of course this is preposterous.

The law is the law and if we let everyone in to Britain, or back into Britain, who had a sob story then we would be living in a country that was seriously overpopulated with no countryside and little resources.

The reality is that we can no longer keep the population of this country at such a high level.

Ed. – The picture in the post was edited for the entertainment of the reader.

Quality Over Quantity!

June 30, 2009

strathclyde_crest_w2
Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill has claimed that the Scottish government/SNP were on target to reach their election promise of 1000 police officers by 2011. There are, however, some serious issues regarding these new young officers. One of which was described in an earlier post by the British National Party Scotland news team (see link at end of post).

The young recruits that are making up these numbers of “new” officers now have a new cause for concern.

Strathclyde police are reportedly receiving weekly reports on criminal gangs that are attempting to infiltrate the police force through social networking sites i.e. Facebook, MySpace and Bebo.

Young and inexperienced new recruits are leaving themselves vulnerable to this sort of technological criminal activity and have been warned against writing personal information on such sites.

As criminal networks are aiming to take advantage of the latest police recruitment initiatives to infiltrate the police force.

Who knows what sort of police officers they are recruiting in order to meet the SNP manifesto promise!

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Gall, head of the force’s Counter Corruption Unit, said when speaking about criminal organisations:

“Their desire to protect their finances is so great now. They see opportunities within the huge recruitment drive within the service.

“They will recognise that there’s an opportunity there to put individuals into the service.”

Gall also hinted at the large numbers of new younger recruits who have “less life experience” and are particularly vulnerable to corruption – this is also something criminal gangs were looking to exploit.

Officers have been issued with guidelines warning them about using such social networking sites as described above.

Gall added: “They need to be mindful. They can be damaging to the reputation of the service and to their own personal circumstances.”

In the first quarter of 2009, 17,048 police officers are in the police force in Scotland. In 2008, 15 Strathclyde officers and staff members were reported to the procurator fiscal facing charges of corruption.

SNP Admit Terrorism In Scotland Is A Real Threat!

June 21, 2009

glasgow-airport-terrorists1
The SNP have drafted in 50 more experts at the cost of £1.75 million to the taxpayer in the fight against terrorism.

These will include; financial investigators (for MP/MSP expenses?) security advisors and intelligence experts.

The SNP “hope” that the move to bring in these experts will help the police combat activity by terrorists and work with communities to raise awareness of violet extremists.
Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill said terrorism is a real threat to Scotland.

He said: “The Glasgow Airport attack of two years ago showed that Scotland is not immune from that threat, and that is why we all need to work together to reduce the possibility of another terrorist attack in this country.

“The Scottish Government is fully committed to the fight against international terrorism and that is why we are equipping our police forces to tackle this threat.

“These additional counter-terrorism officers will help to make our country more secure and allow the police to work with communities to raise awareness of terrorism and related issues to make Scotland a safer place.”

He added: “We will continue to work with other jurisdictions, south of the border and elsewhere, to ensure the safety of all our citizens and that those who seek to disrupt our way of life to perpetrate terror are prosecuted for their crimes.”

He went on to say that they are working closely with senior officers in the police and other bodies to develop “a Scottish approach” to preventing terrorism (how about not letting those who are more likely to perform terrorist activities into the country?), focusing on communications, knowledge and understanding (of why terrorists commit acts of terrorism?) and better co-ordination.

From now on the Scottish executive is going to get the taxpayer to pay £14 million a year to combat terrorism.

Funnily enough, I’m not concerned that old Jimmy down the road is about to become a suicide bomber and blow us all to smithereens. What I am concerned about is the amount of individuals who are allowed to come here from countries where suicide bombers and murders are the norm. Where families encourage other family members to become terrorists as part of the norm. Where violence towards women and animals is the norm. And where children are used and abused is the norm.

Now that’s where a terrorist is going to come from!

SNP At It Again!

June 19, 2009

shrek-alex-salmond1
In a move to separate Scotland from the Union, the SNP have been delivering a leaflet in Falkirk with the Queen AIRBRUSHED OUT of the photo!

The picture is of Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson and a bunch of other SNP councillors in Falkirk’s Council Chamber.

But instead of the portraits of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh – which have hung in the council chamber since 1964 – Robert Burns and William Wallace’s portraits have popped up in their place!

Nothing surprising here to people who know that the SNP are intent on ending the Union that has put the great in Great Britain.

Whilst on the subject of the SNP, remember the SNP’s pledge that EVERY child could go swimming for FREE?

The Sports Minister, Shona Robison, said it would be up to individual councils to decide whether swimming should be free.

Another broken pledge? Tut, tut!

There are only two councils who have provided year round free swimming to under 16’s – Inverclyde and Glasgow.

The SNP said that free swimming remained “an ambition”.

An ambition? So that would be putting it in the next election manifesto to sucker the voters into believing that the SNP would actually do something for the Scottish people eh?

The people of Scotland need to wake up to these fake Nationalists and realise that they don’t really care about the people of this country. The SNP are only interested in using past history to stir up patriotism and promote their agenda.

Their agenda?

To shear Scotland off from the rest of Britain

To become a slave nation to the EU

Absolute power over the people and resources

What they should be doing is representing the views of the people who voted for them. But then again, their past record of election promises shows that they are willing to say anything to keep power!

SNP gives taxpayers cash to main party donor

November 20, 2008

A council LED BY THE SNP is facing an investigation.

£1million of taxpayers money has been earmarked by the Nationalists’ main donor, Souter, for a planned transport project.

A six-figure sum has been set aside by Fife Council so that a hovercraft service can run between Kirkcaldy and Portobello. This is the brainchild of SNP donor Brian Souter’s firm Stagecoach. The local authority pencilled in the funding without having a business plan in place.

And Labour is demanding an Audit Scotland probe after it emerged.

This is the latest attempt by Stagecoach to win public subsidy for a hovercraft service across the Firth of Forth.

Stagecoach is calculated to make pre-tax profits of £192.2m next year. In 2007 the owners of Stagecoach bankrolled the SNP’s Holyroodelection campaign with a cool £500,000 donation. Last year the Scottish Government and stakeholders were asked to contribute £3.3 Million for the project.

The service was put on the back burner after Labour questioned why taxpayers’ money was being handed out to help Stagecoach – the SNP’s main donor’s company.

Earlier this year Fife Council set aside £1 Million in infrastructure costs.

Fife Council is jointly run by SNP and Lib Dems with Lib Dems Councillor Tony Martin saying “We have put in £1 Million, which came out of our revenue budget” and that Stagecoach would only get the money if Edinburgh City Council contributed the same amount – another SNP and Lib Dem run Council.

“The money would be used for building ramps for the hovercraft to go on in Kirkcaldy. I’m very supportive of it, but we need a commitment from the Edinburgh side,” he said.

Before handing over the £1 Million, Tony Martin said that the Council must receive a plan setting out a full business case for the service.

Souter said: “If I could get Edinburgh to give as much help as Fife, we would be up and running”.

The funding commitment of the hovercraft project will be discussed next week by the Council

Labour MSP, George Foulkeshas concerns: “Fife Council have to be careful for two reasons. One is that they might be subject to European regulations. Secondly, they should be concerned about favouring one company that has connections with people who are funding the SNP. This will raise a lot of eyebrows in the Kingdom when the council is cutting back on home care services. I will be writing to Audit Scotland to ask for an investigation into how this £1m was allocated.”

Murdo Fraser, Tory MSP, said: “Given that the government has been cool towards a hovercraft, it is highly questionable that Fife Council seem to think it is worthy of support. And given that Brian Souteris the highest-profile donor to the SNP, SNP-run councils have to be extremely careful to demonstrate their dealings withhim have been done in a proper arms-length manner.”

SNP representative and Fife Council leader, Peter Grant, said: “If we, as a local authority, think there are significant benefits to the people of Fife from this service, we should see if we can support it in some way. If George Foulkes thinks we’ll just put money in Brian Souter’s back pocket then he is out of touch.”

A spokesperson from Stagecoach said the company was committed to the £10 Million investment to the project and that “Stagecoach Group does not give money to any political party. We are apolitical and work with councils and governments of lots of different outlooks.

Asked why the firm could not meet the full costs of the hovercraft service, given that pre-tax profits of next year calculated at £192.2m, he said: “We have asked for potential public funding support for a project that would bring economic, social and transport benefits to people both in Fife and Edinburgh.”

The service went on trial between 16th and 28th July in which 32,099 passengers travelled on the hovercraft.

At a meeting of the South East of Scotland Partnership (SEStran), which provided £92,000 of the £100,000 public subsidy towards the hovercraft trial, it was recorded that: “The press release from Stagecoach appears to have contradicted some of the information from the consultants.”

The Chairman of SEStran and Midlothian councillor, Colin Imrie, met Stagecoach earlier this year and said “both parties recognised that much more work needed to be done on the business plan before any commitment for public funding could be made.

“SEStran support the scheme in principle, but we must be confident that a solid business case exists.”
